horse language translations as well as some good stories and fun pictures.)

A Study of Communication between Man and Horse. Coronet Books, 1975. (Excellent communication theory and experimentation with
ESP and telepathy. Really grounded in the sense of training not teaching the horses anything but creating an understanding
and trust between ourselves and the horses.)
Boersma, Patricia. Riding Into Your Mythic Life; Transformational
Adventures with the Horse. New World Library, 2007. ISBN 978-1-57731-655-8 (This book focuses on practically exploring myth
and partnership with horses. There are exercises to try and stories of other people's experiences as well as Patricia's.
I really liked this book, Linda Kohanov works with mythic archetypes a lot so there were parallels with her work as well as
role play and more theatrical applications and some very magical ideas.)

Life. Harper, 1954. ISBN#0-06-060912-5(Lest you think we're inventing all this stuff now this is a short, story of a man's
connection with a dog and a fly with some social commentary and great discovery call it plain enjoyment and historical context)
Chernack McElroy, Susan. Animals as Teachers and Healers:True Stories and Reflections. Ballantine Books, 1997. ISBN#0-345-42117-5(This
is a book of her reflections on how animals impact and interact in our lives in positive ways using her own personal stories
and others written to her or found elsewhere. Came out at the same time as "The Tao of Equus", a good place to start
if you're not that far out cause she'll take you further along in her next books if you want to go there)

is a wonderful book of her experiences with animals stories in the tradition of Women Who Run with the Wolves, each

Chelsea Green Publishing, 2004. ISBN 1-931498-55-5 (A Challenging Read, not for the fainthearted or queasy and not horse specific
although the approach to animal communication is unique and worthy. He relates his experiences of abuse as a child to the
broader culture to demonstrate that the central belief in our culture "is that it is not only acceptable but desirable
and necessary to bend others to our own will". The queasy reference is for his documentation of how horribly we've
done this and also for his own honest and intimate portrayal of his experiences of abuse both indirectly through his affinity
to nature and directly through his experiences with his father. Well, well worth the suffering and integral to my own exploration
of dominance and the challenges to shifting beyond.)

in horsemanship but "get over it" or be less than great attitude, in fairness there is "In Search of Your Image:
A Practical Guide to the Mental and Spiritual Aspects of Horsemanship that I haven't read yet.)

as a horse trainer, develops theory of passive leadership. In his last 2 books he's talking about integrating horsemanship
and Aikido in all aspects of his life, instead of just with his work with horses. Beautiful, open and honest exploration of
self. Talks about the horses teaching him things and calls it "wierd" to think that horses can have agenda for teaching
people and know what they know but puts it out there anyway without trying to explain how it works or dismiss it cause he
can't.)

and using visualization to release instead of trying hard to let go. Cueing in ways that begin with the thought and don't
interfere with the movement of the horse. How your horses will mirror in their bodies what is happening in yours. There are
great instructors who travel BC.)
